“We pride ourselves on offering expertise, responsiveness, a lack of politics and focused service from the right people. That is the same ethos that I have experienced at Rickard Keen.”
Phil Rock Group Finance Director, Cooper Gay (Holdings) Limited
Dealing with financial risk on a major international scale brings into sharp focus the need for security when it comes to tax affairs. For Cooper Gay (Holdings) Limited, this peace of mind is enhanced by the high quality services they receive from Rickard Keen.
Cooper Gay was established in 1965 and has grown into a company with over 500 employees worldwide across their 25+ subsidiaries. Around half of that employee base can be found in their London branch. They are an insurance and reinsurance broker serving a broad mixture of clients across all sectors and sizes of establishment.
They have been using Rickard Keen as an outsourced provider of tax expertise for around three years. A number of their directors recommended Rickard Keen’s services after having their personal tax affairs taken care of by the firm. This led to a number of corporate projects being secured, including the UK statutory tax filings and ad hoc advice on overseas tax jurisdiction, especially with regard to the US branches of Cooper Gay.
“We wanted to open a subsidiary in Miami,” says group finance director Phil Rock. “Our query was answered quickly and impartially, giving us an overview of the best options from a tax perspective. When we asked about our US structure, Rickard Keen used the international connections from their membership of MGI to source streamlined advice from US advisors of a similar size to them.”
According to Phil, Rickard Keen provides a proactive service, backed up by real expertise and experience. He believes that one of the things that differentiates them from larger firms is that when you ask a question it is answered by a partner.
“We share a cultural affinity with Rickard Keen, in that they compete with companies much larger than them. We match that in our own industry. We compete against reinsurance brokers that are significantly bigger than us in size terms, despite us having a very real global presence. We pride ourselves on offering expertise, responsiveness, a lack of politics and focused service from the right people. That is the same ethos that I have experienced at Rickard Keen.”
