Andy Metcalf is the practice manager at Valkyrie Surgery, Westcliff-on-Sea. As one of a small number of training practices in the area – as well as being a six-partner surgery – it is inspected every three years, so providing a high quality service is crucial.
That’s exactly what Mr Metcalf feels he receives from Rickard Keen, which was already acting as the surgery’s accountancy firm when he became practice manager.

Rickard Keen takes care of the surgery’s end of year accounts and the partners’ personal tax returns, as well as being involved in their practice-based commissioning group, Fortis Healthcare, which enables twelve GP practices to work together to improve the care provided to patients.
Additionally, when the Valkyrie Surgery was investigating merging four practices into one a couple of years ago, Rickard Keen was instrumental in advising on the process.
“I have recommended Rickard Keen to another GP practice, which now uses them,” says Mr Metcalf, “as I like the firm and work well with them. They are good at what they do.”
