Accountants hit right notes with charity carol concerts
Rickard Keen has hit the right notes with two fundraising carol concerts in aid of local charities.
The first performance took place at the St Martin of Tours Church in Basildon on Tuesday, 13 December, with the second concert the following evening, at Crowstone St George's United Reformed Church in Westcliff-on-Sea, Southend.
The concerts included performances from the Southend Band, along with Southend Boys' and Girls' Choir in Southend and Southend Young Singers in Basildon. As ever, full audience participation was encouraged, with mince pies and mulled wine available to help guests get into the festive spirit.
Rickard Keen has organised the Southend event for a number of years and has teamed up with Palmers Solicitors to hold the Basildon concert since 2007. The two charity concerts were attended by around 300 people over the course of the two nights with £2,877 being raised.
This year, the Southend concert was raising funds for the Bosom Pals "On the Road" Appeal to improve breast screening provision throughout the county, while the Basildon event was supporting the Burned Children's Club.
Rickard Keen managing partner Alan Worsdale said: "I would like to thank everyone for attending our carol concerts and for donating so generously to two worthwhile causes, particularly at this time of year and in such hard economic times.
"Once again the singing was top quality and really helped everybody get in the Christmas spirit."
