Reward for success

Budding accountants have put their writing skills to the test in an essay writing competition held by Essex-based chartered accountants Rickard Keen.

Students at Southend High School for Boys were given the task of writing an essay with the title "The Value of Accounts in Today’s Business World."

According to the judges, a number of "well written and thoughtful" essays were produced with Anthony Kiwanuka, Peter Waterman and Matthew Law being named as finalists.

After much debate, the judges finally picked a winner, with the 1st prize of £125 of book tokens was awarded to Peter, Matthew picked up the second prize of £75 of book tokens and Anthony collecting a prize of £50 worth of book tokens.

The presentation was made by Rickard Keen partner Noel Kelleway at a Senior School assembly, where the finalists were congratulated for their efforts.

Noel said: "It is always wonderful to celebrate success and these three students have done particularly well. We hope that our prizes will be put to good use in their forthcoming studies."
